Texas STAR Medicaid
Superior HealthPlan proudly offers STAR, a Medicaid managed care program serving low-income families at no cost to them.
Superior offers STAR Medicaid in the following service areas:
- Bexar
- El Paso
- Hidalgo
- Lubbock
- Nueces
- Travis
- MRSA Central
- MRSA Northeast
- MRSA West
STAR benefits Include:
- Choice of doctors.
- Regular checkups and office visits.
- Prescription drugs and medical supplies.
- Dental and vision services.
- Vaccines.
- Behavioral health care.
- Hospital coverage.

At Superior, members can get many great services in addition to their regular benefits. These are called Value-added Services*. From extra vision care to cell phones and car seats, Superior is proud to offer many extra services to help keep our members healthy.
- Extra vision benefits. This includes $150 toward prescription eyewear.
- Extra dental benefits. This includes up to $250 for pregnant women ages 21 and older.
- Annual sports physicals for children ages 4 through 18.
- $25 for over-the-counter items through the mail every quarter.
- Online mental health services through myStrength.com.
- Transportation assistance to behavioral health-related doctor visits, on a case-by-case basis, for STAR members ages 6-99.
- $60 for programs offered by YMCA and Boys and Girls Club.**
- Help for members enrolled in the Asthma Disease Management Program. This includes home visits and allergy free mattress covers and pillow cases.
- Telephonic outreach, education and support services offered to reduce the health risks associated with smoking during pregnancy through Superior’s Puff-Free Pregnancy program.
- Connections Plus phone for members who do not qualify for SafeLink and enroll in Care Management.
- Up to 750 extra minutes per month for SafeLink phone users who are enrolled in Care Management.
- A 24-hour nurse advice line.
- An educational pregnancy book for teen pregnant members who are enrolled in Care Coordination and in their first trimester.
- Parenting class that gives education and resources to aid in healthy child development.†
- $20 rewards card for members enrolled in Care Management who download the Wellframe app and participate in a care program for 30 days, after discharge from the hospital for a medical admit.
- $20 gift card and journal for members ages 6-20 who complete a follow-up doctor visit within 7 days of discharge from the hospital for an inpatient behavioral health stay.
- Online social services resource directory for members to help locate community supports such as food and nutrition, housing, education and employment services.
- Members 18 and older can access a 3 month subscription for Weight Watchers® online program.

Special Services for Superior Pregnant Members
- Parenting class that gives education and resources to aid in healthy child development.†
- Start Smart® For Your Baby Program - If you stay for an entire baby shower, or download a pregnancy program mobile app and engage for 30 days, you can get extra benefits* like:
- A diaper bag and diapers when you complete the Notification of Pregnancy (NOP) form
- A convertible baby car seat when you complete the NOP form and go to one prenatal visit within your first trimester or 42 days of enrollment with Superior - Up to $100 My Health Pays® rewards each year for completing prenatal and postpartum visits. - An educational pregnancy book for teen pregnant members who are enrolled in Care Coordination and in their first trimester.
